Elle, 5 3/4 years old, reading update

Just wanted to put up a blog post to document Elle's reading progression.

We picked this book ("Goldie and the Three Hares") up at the library and she instantly took to it! Em and Ce Ce love for Elle to read books to them!

I am so happy that our girls LOVE to read like I do:) Elle has really developed in her reading skills. She reads in an animated manner and tries the hardest words in the book with confidence.

Ce Ce's Tot School {21 months}

Ce Ce is really enjoying her Tot School Activities. She has really blossomed recently. She is wearing her "big girl panties" during the day and has even started staying dry all night. She will still have occasional accidents, and we require her to wear a diaper under her panties when we got out (just in case:), but otherwise, she is really getting the hang of using the potty!

Her language skills and letter recognition is also really taking off! She can recognize many letters of the alphabet and loves to point to letters and tell me what they are!

Here are some of her recent lessons---enjoy!!

She absolutely loves our color blocks!

Working on letter recognition.

We spent a week in the big girls' homeschool studying animals. Ce Ce loves animals and has really enjoyed working on our various animal puzzles.

Ce Ce loves the Farm Animals puzzle and can make all of the animal sounds!

"Reading" a book and pointing out all of the

animals that she recognizes.

Working with Mommy on our animal flashcards.

THIS is where homeschooling begins---right in Mommy's lap!

Having fun showing Elle all of the animals she knows.

Reading a mini-book on dogs that Em made.

Stacking rings.

Tearing paper. It is very good for building hand strength needed

for early writing skills.

She loves when big sister reads to her while she is on the potty:)

Ce Ce is now to the age where she goes to the cabinet and gets her own school work out now.

It is the cutest thing.

Sorting bears.

Transferring beans.

Messy fun!!

Happy B-day Dr. Seuss!!

In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday,

we had some fun with our food:)!

We read some of our favorite Dr. Seuss books and.......of course,

made Green Eggs and Turkey ham!

To replicate the hat in "The Cat in the Hat" book, we made these fun fruit kabobs.

Oh, those eyes melt my heart every time!

All about Hearts & Love~2012

For Valentine's Day, we focused on love. The love of God and the love in our family

and the world.

We had a lot of fun!

Our library books for the week.

Ce Ce {20 months} sorting hearts by color.

We made these heart-shaped crayons. The girls love using them!!

Red Valentine's day homemade play dough.

Of course, the love of Jesus is the best love of all!

I put together this Valentine's Day play dough tray. I used an old chocolate candy tray, a heart-shaped cookie cutter and chocolate homemade play dough.
I modified this recipe by adding a couple packets of instant hot chocolate---it worked perfectly!

The girls LOVE this activity!!
