We have been having so much fun trying new crafts lately!!
Our latest "new find" has been Puffy Paint. You simply mix up the ingredients to make the paint, have the kid(s) paint on some thick paper or cardboard (cut up cereal boxes work well:) and pop their art work into the microwave for 30 seconds. {Recipe below}
We made 5 different colors this time. I used washable tempera paint instead of food coloring, fyi.
Elle loved making the designs so much, I had to cut up another cereal box, lol:) She has decided to give out her artwork to people she thinks about, so if you get a random piece of her original artwork, know that you are very special indeed:)
Before being microwaved for 30 seconds.
Voila!! I wish you could really see the textures it made--so neat!!
The tempera paint really made the colors vibrant!
Em had so much fun with this project!! She LOVED feeling all of the different textures on her designs. I am sure we will be making this LOTS in our house now:)
Here are the instructions I used: (this will make enough for one small amount paint---just keep repeating for different colors)
Add water to make a smooth paste. Apply mixture to cardboard squares. We used Q-tips and they worked out GREAT!
Microwave the design on high for 10 - 30 seconds until the paint puffs and it's all nice and dry. We did ours for 30 seconds.
Please let me know if you make it----it is LOTS of fun!
Blessings,
Aria:)
